BOSTON, Oct. 29, 2014 – James M. Behmke, former Partner with Edwards Wildman Palmer LLP, has joined PIB Law as Managing Partner of the firm's new Boston office, and Chair of the firm's Intellectual Property Group.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Behmke has prosecuted countless patents for worldwide technology leaders and start-ups, in both the USPTO and foreign counterparts. He has established himself as a leader in areas of patents, copyrights, trademarks, and licensing for high-tech and high profile clients. His practice focuses on patent preparation and prosecution in a wide variety of mechanical, electrical, and computer arts, among other technological areas.
Along with Mr. Behmke, Stephen LeBarron and Kenneth Heywood, also from Edwards Wildman Palmer LLP, join the firm, bringing with them their combined knowledge in representation of advanced technologies; with matters involving software, hardware, telecommunications, mobile technologies, automation, medical devices, RFID, and cloud computing.
"PIB breaks the traditional mold of law firms, both internally and externally. Internally, the firm's 'super-star only' attorneys and staff are all treated fairly as highly valued members of the team, and we will continue that outstanding service model at the new Boston office. Externally, PIB offers exceptional work at affordable prices, but more importantly, they understand the core of the clients' business, and flexibly cater services for each individual client, large or small," said James Behmke. "Steve, Ken, and the rest of our staff were integral to quickly getting PIB's Boston practice running with our high-demand clients, and we hope to expand the Boston office with additional 'super-star' members looking for an exciting place to call home. We are enthusiastic about what opportunities lie ahead and how we can take advantage of what Boston has to offer."
"Opening an office in Boston is an expression of the firm's ongoing and steadfast commitment to our philosophy of meeting and exceeding our growing client's expectations across the country," said Sanjay Ibrahim, the firm's Managing Partner. "As a destination for financial services, Boston is home for many of our clients. It is necessary that we have skilled lawyers like Jim, Steve and Ken utilizing their talents to naturally build the office from the ground up. Jim's professional experience coupled with his respected reputation proves he will provide the right direction and leadership to the team. We are confident that they will deliver creative solutions to meet the needs of our growing client base in this exciting new market."
Before serving as a Partner at Edwards Wildman Palmer LLP, Mr. Behmke was a Senior Associate at two Boston area patent boutiques that primarily specialized in the areas of patents, copyrights, trademarks, and licensing. During his career, he was recognized as a New England "Rising Star" for his top legal talent.
